As a Certified CranioSacral Therapist, I work with the nervous system to support innate healing. Working physiologically first, I facilitate the release of tension, energy, emotions and sensations that may be held in the tissue due to any traumatic event.
As a Somatic Psychotherapist, I ask people to note what visceral sensations they are having while talking about a concern. As awareness of the connections between thoughts, memories, emotions and body state grows, so does self-possession. Somatic psychotherapy uses body sensations as the key to healing trauma. It recalibrates ‘body maps’ so that you can feel yourself from the inside out.
I hold a Masters in Dance and I am a Psychotherapist specializing in a somatic approach (mind-body, sensorial relationship) to healing. I am also a Certified Craniosacral Therapist, a Certified Movement Analyst, and a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist.
Before I became a therapist, I taught dance, anatomy and movement analysis at both the university and college level. I recognize the need we share to creatively express ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I know how important it is to answer our soul’s calling to live a fully embodied life.
I have been in private practice as somatic specialist for over 20 years. I apply my clinical skills to stimulate neurogenesis and support the healing of emotional and physical trauma. My knowledge of the interconnectedness of systems facilitates the awakening of sensory awareness and enhances a clearer expression of our meaning in movement.
Being a particular way focuses our body/mind not to simply discharge emotional energy, but to gain perspective. Moving in a particular way activates and rebalances our inner and outer resources. This connecting inner to outer is itself a spiritual healing process.
We are all dancers in life, we need to move and be moved. My work facilitates deep connection, so that people can discover and value what they want out of life.
